: My maternal grandfather, John Hubert Pressnall, was the son of James Stanbrough Pressnall, of Noblesville, IN., just north of Indianapolis. He moved to Iowa just after his involvement in the Civil War and settled in Atlantic, in Western Iowa. He was commander of Company F, 63rd Ind. Regiment, and wrote his memoirs of the conflict shortly before his death in 1932. After the war, he was the Cass County (Iowa) Sherriff and Justice of the Peace and led the posse to try to apprehend the Jesse James gang following the Adair Train Robbery of 1873. His paternal grandmother was Hannah Littler, (please see my sister's (Deborah Sheets Riley's) information below)... Grampa Pressnall had a brother, Frederick, and two sisters, Alice and Eudora. We think Eudora's married name was Salisbury.

: Anything to add? We're looking for early pictures of J.S. Pressnall in uniform...

: John

Hello! I am a great-great granddaughter of James Stanbrough Pressnall. My grandmother, Eudora Graham St. Clair was a daughter of Mary Alice Scott and James Stanbrough Pressnall. We have in our possession a bureau built by a Scott ancestor in 1787. I also (somewhere)have copies of letters that James wrote to my grandmother. I would LOVE any info/copies you could share!

THANKS!
